But, Is It

Yeah, okay

I am cool..
unbothered...
The non-troubling kind, a hassle-free partner
I shan't nag you. You are free to do
What you want with your time.
Go see your friends, talk to them
Call up family, yours or mine.
Do your job, watch a series, go spend your time online
Yeah, okay
I am cool.
Because your time is yours, not mine.

But, is it wrong that I want to be on your mind?

A stolen reply after ten messages
Continuously spewing nonsense
That, if uncoded, would mean- give me attention
Give me your time
I feel like you have forgotten me even though you are mine

Is it unacceptable that I want you to think of me
Just as much as I do?

I love that we have reached this stage
Where silence is comfortable between us
Between us, there is no need to chase
Each other, for we are just
So so so well integrated in each other's lives
Husband and wife
That we have forgotten the thrill of the unknown
Forgotten the taste of unprompted sweet nothings
Of surprise messages on sticky notes
Of hugs out of nowhere
Of fingers touching the others' in crowd
I suppose comfort does that to couples
We trade the excitement for simple, accept 'this is normal' and give up the 'wow'

But, Is it bad that I don't want to?
